John Stanfield, Jr. was born on August 1, 1743 on the border of Chester County, Pennsylvania and New Garden County, Delaware. His parents were John Stanfield and
Hannah Hadley.
His family moved to North Carolina in 1753. Their farm was in Snow Camp, Alamance County. It was Orange County at that time.
On April 6, 1754 at Cane Creek Monthly Meeting in Orange County, John was one of the children of John and Hannah who were received on certificate from the Newark Monthly Meeting in Delaware.
When his father died in 1755, he inherited the Haw River farm of 200 acres adjoining John Jones.
When his grandfather, Simon Hadley, died in 1756 he inherited 50 pounds.
On April 28, 1762 he married Phillipina Jonesat Cane Creek Monthly Meeting. Phillipina was born in May, 1746 in Lancaster (later
Berks) County, Pennsylvania and was the daughter of John Jones.

received at Deep River Monthly Meeting in Guilford County North Carolina on November 6, 1786. Deep Creek Monthly Meeting
in Surry (later Yadkin, County), North Carolina was set off from Deep River Monthly Meeting in 1793; the
Stanfields were in the Surry County region and members of Deep Creek Monthly Meeting.

Stanfield signed his will on August 17, 1815 in Cumberland County, Kentucky It was proved on April 17, 1816.
Guilford County, North Carolina was organized in 1771 from parts of Rowan and Orange Counties.
In the name of GOD amen, being weak of body but of a sound mind and memory and of a disposing mind and willing to resign my body to the grave and my soul to god; do make this my last will and testament as follows, to wit,
Item, I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Biddecks one dollar
Item, I give and bequeath to my daughter Hanah Cain, Rebecka Cain, Samuel Stanfield,Lydia Rayfield and Phillipina Scott the price of my fifty acres of land be the same more or less
lying in Cumberland County & on bear creek, which was the land I bought of William Cain;
and It is my desire & will that the said William Cain should have the land again provided he the said William Cain pays after keeping his wifes part to Rebeckah Cain, Samuel Stanfield, Lydia Rayfield, Phillipina Scott & Lydia Rayfield
to have double out of the price of land, which land is to be valued after my Decease,
it further my will and desire that the above tract of land named should be valued Equal to each, and the said William Cain is bound to pay each legated that is to say Rebeckah Cain & others above named which is to have the price of said fifty acres of John Stanfield and in trade of the same rates the land is valued at,
Item I give & bequeath to my son Thomas Stanfield one Dollar to him and his heirs,
it further my will & desire that the rest & residue of my Estate both real & personal after paying my funeral Expences & lawful debts, should be equally divided between Hanah Cain, Rebeckah Cain, Samuel Stanfield, Lydia Rayfield & Phillipina Scott and I do appoint Samuel Stanfield and Abo Scott my sole Exart. to this my last will & testament
